heating oil

The dead organisms and remains of plants and animals that lived years ago in aquatic environment get covered by layers of mud. Due to heat and pressure they were turned into crude oil.

Crude oil is usually found in underground reservoirs.  It is a smelly, yellow to black colored liquids. The Gulf of Mexico produces over ¼ of crude oil in U.S.  The top most crude oil producing states are Texas, California, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Alaska.

United States imports about 59.5% of crude oil and petroleum products, since the amount of crude oil production has been declining every year and the demand has been rising.

After removing crude oil from the ground it is refined and the thus separated into to usable petroleum products.  Most of these products are used for energy.  In U.S. people mostly used propane for heating their homes and to fuel their cars.

Petrol products help us in many ways.  They are used as fuels to run our vehicles to heat our homes, to make medicines, plastics etc., though there are many advantages, using them causes a lot of disadvantages like environmental pollution. Fuels like diesel and gasoline produce less pollution when compared to petroleum products.

Drilling for oil may disturb land and water eco systems.  The improved technology through satellites and global positioning systems, sesmic technology made easy to explore the fuels.

Spilling of oil destructs the aquatic life.  Leakage of petroleum cleans up the ground.  To prevent the underground leakages the buried tanks should be replaced with double lining tanks. Petroleum products like gasoline are used in cars and heating oil is sued to heat our homes. When these products get burned they gibe off gases which cause green house effect and air pollution.
